{Once upon a time..}: It all started last summer in Italy. Long hot evenings in the sewing room, lot of excitement around cutting, sewing and stitching. An old art that has been around since my childhood through my upbringing. Something that I was never really keen on learning for some reason, although as a child I used to appreciate and enjoy random visits to the local tailor watching over the long table where skirts, jackets and coats were cut, surrounded by manikins dressed with the latest custom-made order. We (me and my mum) will take the cut piece of fabric home and few days later the fabric will shape up to a garment ready to be fitted. Ladies will then come through our door, with their stories to tell… few minutes later the coffee will be ready to serve ( just after the fitting), and so my afternoon homework will be wiped away from the table. The memory of times, times when I thought I would never be good enough to learn the art or perhaps was too busy affirming my idea of emancipation… that women are not just good at sewing and cleaning…

…meanwhile my mum is still busy with ladies coming and going, I have proven myself enough, now it’s time to learn sewing… well …I am still a junior!!
I have been working on this idea for a while now and have opened the etsy shop some time ago, although I have been too busy (and shy) to list any items up till now…

Some things look so familiar - my mother still has her Italian hopechest filled with treasures that came with her across the ocean.
Growing up one of my favourite things was going to the Italian seamstress that made my Mom's dresses - her scrap bag was so much fun to play in.
