Elle Moss photography for Puella

{Puella}: Yesterday we looked at Puella' s romantic style and innovative project Self Time Mode.
Puella's designer Barbara Barbantini has asked photographers/models found on Flickr to interpret through their lenses and creative eye her collections for Puella. Three different photographers have produced catalogues for each season collection. The first to appear on Puella's website was Elle Moss, chosen for her vintage feel of her work, the attention to details, the malinconic mood of her self-portraits.
Followed by Lucia Holm and Louise [from yesterday post] who specialised in gothic surreal story [Art and Ghosts]. The latest discovery is the teen-age Eleanor Hardwick, a 15 years old photographer from England, Reading, who will be producing the catalogue for the new collection Autumn/Winter 09.
Images from Self Time Mode are displayed in an exhibition at the Puella's Savona atelier and Torino showroom in Italy.
I love Elle Moss work, here few picks from her etsy shop and blog.

Puella - Vintage style

{Puella}: I absolutely love these accessories by Italian brand, Puella, which I only recently discovered !! Not only I love the romantic vintage style but even the amazing photos by Lucia Holm. Barbara Barbantini, has been the designer of Puella [means girl in Latin] since 1999. She creates personal interpretation of teen-aged feminility by using unique materials, funny prints, colours, pop and naive objects and old pictures. All this is the joyful creation that characterises the fresh and unique Puella's style.

Crafty edge at Fortnum& Mason

{Crafty edge}: I spotted this window arrangement yesterday evening in central London at Fortnum& Mason and I just couldn't resist sharing it with you...!! Giants buttons, oversize spools of thread with needle, huge balls of yarn gloriously staged to display the finest china, the famous Fortnum's blends of tea with the finest sweet biscuit selection. Founded in 1707, Fortnum& Mason is a beautiful and unique shop, renowned for being quintessentially English and still the Royal Family' s favourite food hall.
I enjoy occasional visits to this historic department because of their selection of French soaps, vintage style accessories or simply to enjoy the decor and the ambiance of bygone times.
Despite stocking a solid range of accessories, perfumes, furniture and homeware, the shop is, understandably, famed for its fantastic, upmarket food hall piled high with gastronomic delights and adorned with chandeliers and marble pillars.

A Window Of Opportunity

In every life occasionally

a window opens before us,

a window of opportunity.

It may not be a window to money,

but a window to more friends.

When we pass through it could lead us

to friends in many lands.

So the next time a window opens

just walk on through

you’ll never know

what lies beyond it there.

It could open

to the greatest treasure there,

love and friendship

just for you.

Wish you all a nice week-end.....,my friends!!

Wellies week-end

It looks like I am gonna have to wear my HUNTER wellies over the week-end, as the rain has been non stop for the past few days here in London. I love wearing my wellies as I can walk anywhere without having to worry about getting my feet wet and also reminds me of my country lifestyle upbringing!!
In recent years they have also become fashionable footwear and despite the rain and the grey weather these funky wellies won't certainly go unnoticed!!

Bonjour Mon Coussin - Deliciously designed!

{DELICIOUS CUSHIONS}: I couldn't resist the temptation..... doughnuts, cupcakes..... ON THESE CUSHIONS!!!
I absolutely adore these cleverly designed cushions: from the sweets to the vintage postal prints.... and many more from 'Bonjour mon coussin' website ........... some of their cushions are even perfumed!
Claire Eglizeaud and Paul Moreau, a designer and a graphic artist from Bordeaux developed "Bonjour mon coussin" in 2007, a new and surprising concept.
They have created a wide range of designs and offer them as pillow covers. The motifs are original, regularly renewed and inspired by old documents found (vintage postcards, an 1873 marriage certificate, old publicity…) or drawn from their own world (voyages, divers and unusual objects...) each cover is numbered and the number of copies limited. M
ade in France.

Painted walls....

{Colour moods}: I have never been one for radical colours when it comes to painted walls. I much rather go for white walls and make use of colours on accessories, furniture and textiles....
Well, I might be about to change my mind.....
The other evening I went to visit a friend of mine and I was quite astonished when I entered her kitchen, since the white walls have been substituted with a warm 'sunny' yellow. More interestingly the colour paint was bought accidentally, as she told me her original choice was for a soft yellow instead. Unbelievable how ...[a mistake can turn into a success..] now the kitchen looks much brighter and welcoming.

Julie Arkell [.....and her magical world]

{Inspirations}:I only recently discovered the work of Julie Arkell and I am simply blown away by her magical and unique creations. Everything she produced is hand made, using knitted adornments, curious accessories, ribbons and found objects.
As Julie says:"I have always loved to make things using accessible materials like paper, glue, cardboard, fabric and wool, which relate to my papermache pieces. I am able to make pieces that express my feelings, thoughts and ideas, bringing past and present together"
.

Unfortunately I already missed one of her workshop in London last year, but today I have discovered she is holding a workshop in the Southern of France between 2-7 July 2009:
“STITCHING, KNITTING and COLLECTING”
Over five days, Julie will guide participants, individually and as a group, through the creative process of developing ideas, intuitively combining stitching and knitting with miscellaneous collected objects - to produce original and delightful compositions. A couple of mornings of the 5 days workshop will be spent scouring the local brocantes and markets looking for inspiration and finds to discover, with Julie’s help, the joys and usability of collected ephemera.
I am so tempted ... image the lovely surrounding of rural France ad 5 days of total immersion in creativity.......What a treat!!!
